Luxury Guest House on the West Coast 

Electricty bill was very high and load shedding was causing issues for Guests.

 

We made the house more energy efficient by optimising the Heat Pump hot water system as well as the Solar Geyser. We disconnected the underfloor heating and adjusted timers on pool pumps etc. Then installed Solar panels on the roof with Victron Inverters and  Solar MPPT chargers.

 

The Lithium Ion battery is for battery backup as well as self consumtion of stored solar power at night.The battery provides backup power on the lights,

wi-fi, coffee machine and small appliances.

 

They recieved a massive reduction of 75 % off their monthly electricity account.

 

The beauty of this system is that the MPPT Solar Charger installed is more effective than a grid-tied inverter in a small system. DC power from the panels now extends the battery backup time during the day and is not grid power dependent.

Upgrade 

Later, we upgraded their system to:

 

  • Upgraded to Lithium-Ion Battery
  • 4 Kwh Blue Nova packed with reliability and can utilise the full battery capacity.
  • Solar Power during the day, battery backup at night and during load shedding.

 

They are now very close towards being self sufficient.
